“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans. Aim high in hope and work. Remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die.” - Daniel Burnham

2009 marks the 100th anniversary of the Plan of Chicago, or, as it is often referred to, the Burnham Plan, after its chief author, Daniel Burnham. The 2009 APA Upper Midwest Conference will be held September 24-26, 2009 at the Downtown Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Illinois. Teska will be sponsoring the Thursday Lunch Presentation on the 2016 Olympic Bid; please stop by our booth for more information and to chat. The preliminary program has been posted on the conference website at www.ilapa.org.

The 2009 Upper Midwest Conference will offer a new type of conference experience. This year the majority of the sessions offered will have attendees out and about in one of the world’s greatest cities, and through a series of mobile workshops, immerse attendees in locations that made the Plan of Chicago a Midwestern legacy.

This year’s conference will be held just six days prior to the International Olympic Committee announcement of the 2016 Olympic Host City. Experience the anticipation along with the City of Chicago and the entire Midwest. The conference will feature a special plenary session on the Chicago 2016 Bid Package and how this package was influenced and shaped by the 1909 Plan of Chicago.
