7) Streamlining the Permitting Process| Lincolnwood, IL

By Kon Savoy

With the completion of the newly updated Zoning Ordinance prepared by Teska, the Village realized that the implementation of the new code was mired down with an antiquated permitting process and numerous, and conflicting forms and checklist procedures.  The Village requested Teska to examine the current permitting process and forms the Village had been using to process various types of zoning applications, and to provide a training session for Village staff on how to review the organizational and practical issues of administering the new ordinance.  The result has been to reduce the number of forms to make the process more user friendly, and reduce the amount of staff time needed to process each application.
