As a follow-up to an earlier Neighborhood Planning effort, the City of Aurora, with the assistance of Teska Associates, began preparation of a Corridor Plan for West Galena Boulevard. This roadway serves as a major entry into downtown Aurora, and has undergone a transition from residential to commercial use. Teska Associates prepared a manual that addresses design concepts for public streetscape plans as well as architectural and site planning guidelines for public and private developments within the Galena Boulevard Corridor.
The design manual provides direction on the type, character and quality of various streetscape, and building facade improvements for the project area. The manual also includes a detailed set of architectural guidelines to establish the character of the design theme for the City.
