Teska Associates, Inc. prepared the land use, parks and open space, neighborhood character, and infrastructure elements as part of a multi-disciplinary consultant team retained to create the City of Joliet's Quality of Life Action Plan for Council District 445. This Action Plan summarizes the process undertaken to evaluate existing conditions, identifies potential solutions, and outlines action steps that are necessary to achieve the Plan's goals and objectives.
The Land Use & Park Framework Plans provide guidelines for revitalizing neighborhoods through redevelopment, as well as management of new development. The guidelines aim to maintain community character while providing more opportunities for housing, recreation, commerce, and employment. The primary objective of the Neighborhood Character & Improvements Plan is to assist the community in evaluating ways to improve the quality of life through the enhancement and protection of the visual appeal of the neighborhood's physical environment. The plan also is designed to increase awareness of the importance of neighborhood character and to stimulate thinking on the need to protect, improve and sensitively add to existing community resources.
