The goal of this project was to develop a Concept Plan, Design Criteria, and Strategies for redevelopment within a 1/2 mile radius of the Hazel Crest Metra Station. The concept plan addressed such issues as circulation, parking and pedestrian access, recommended physical improvements, redevelopment opportunities, and commuter parking opportunities.
The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) under the Regional Technical Assistance Program funded the project. Some of the project's objectives included enhancing the physical environment in the station area, and strengthening the Hazel Crest Redevelopment Area as an element of the social and economic base of the community. The majority of the study area is within a TIF District that Teska Associates assisted the Village in creating prior to the TOD Study.
