Teska served as landscape architect for the restoration of the former Armour Estate. According to Sr. Vice President Nick Patera, "Our goal is to restore the thematic design reminiscent of the three dimensional, flowing open spaces that were characteristic of Jens Jensen's design style."
The scope of the project includes modifications to the west property frontage along Greenbay Road, (recently completed) the installation of a curving driveway and re-creation of the outdoor living areas surrounding the home and coach house.
Landscape plantings, walks and bluestone terraces adjoining the existing restored home, the proposed east additions and coach house, pool, south terrace and formal gardens will be replaced in a manner that reflects the original 1911 master plan and later Armour improvements. Although the original landscape is gone, where possible the renovation will include replanting the same species in similar patterns and locations.
Landscape improvements for the south and east grounds beyond the home will be implemented separately over time once the new owners have moved in. At the present time, they will remain as a tall grass meadow.
