The Vermilion River is a well known and beautiful kayaking and canoeing river in North Central Illinois. The community of Streator hired Teska to master plan their Vermilion River Greenway to improve an under developed asset and to fold the Greenway plan into the economic re-development efforts in the community.
Teska conducted public workshops where the attendees where able to build their own greenway plan as well as share their ideas. Teska also assisted in forming a steering committee, consisting of Streator citizens, that assisted in creating the preferred master plan.
The Greenway Master Plan provides opportunities for natural area restoration and conservation, water quality improvement, and a variety of outdoor recreational activities for residents and visitors alike.
