Teska Associates, Inc. collaborated with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to develop design scenarios in order to get a sense of what the public wants the future to look like in Sugar Grove, IL. Three future development scenarios were designed based on the concepts of "Reinvest", "Preserve" and "Innovate". Site plans, 3D renderings, videos and descriptive design posters were developed to simulate what these options could look like to the public.

Option 1, "Reinvest", looks at focusing future development in a compact fashion to create a highly walkable, multi-modal, mixed-use community.

Option 2, "Preserve", focuses on preserving Sugar Grove's greenspace and natural amenities, while improving stormwater management and creating an interconnected trailway network. This design concept maintains low density single and multi-family housing surrounding a centrally located, common parkway.

Option 3, "Innovate", is focused on integrating clean energy techniques and "green" building practices within a recreational environment. Option 3 explores the possibility of creating a transportation themed, outdoor learning center that would allow visitors and residents to learn how transit elements evolved. A centrally located amphitheater would provide a venue to showcase the various modes of transit. Also included in this concept plan is an alternative energy museum, a drive-in theater and a 1950's style diner with attached souvenir gift shop.

Sugar Grove's "GO TO 2040" design concepts are currently on display in the lobby of the Sears Tower.
