The streetscape design was developed in conjunction with other community planning efforts completed by Teska, including the preparation of a Traditional Neighborhood District. The physical streetscape design supports traditional neighborhood development themes, which were the outcome of a public process, including a mix of uses; walkability; interconnected streets; front entries and porches in close proximity to a sidewalk; and access to parking and services through alleys.
In conjunction with the preparation of a Pedestrian Scale Overlay District, Teska has designed streetscape plans for roadway corridors within the downtown area. Corridor streetscape improvements accommodate safe, walkable, attractive pedestrian oriented areas, and also preserve neighborhood character. Improvements include decorative lighting, gateway signage features, specialty paving, and ornamental plantings.
