The Village of Glencoe continues to enhance entrances into the Village through installation of attractive roadway median landscape improvements. Teska Associates assisted the Village with planting design for medians along Dundee Road, an IDOT controlled roadway. The medians serve as a gateway into the Village from the west. The medians also highlight the south entrance to the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
Features of the median landscapes include extensive use of perennials and ornamental grasses for seasonal color and interest and larger caliper trees for a greater initial impact. Irrigation, provisions for holiday lighting, salt and urban tolerant plantings, and considerations for Village maintenance practices were all incorporated into the design.
Teska Associates provided technical design assistance as well as on-site planting layout guidance during construction activities.
