Teska was retained to study and provide recommendations for physical improvements for the downtown core of Sterling. The Teska design team worked closely with Sterling 2000, an organization of local merchants, property owners, residents, and City staff, as well as the City of Sterling to formulate a downtown improvement plan. The plan addresse the desire of Sterling 2000 to restore the charm and character of downtown Sterling.

To convey the potential to improve the pedestrian character of downtown, Teska prepared a series of perspective sketches, building facade overlays, image boards, and schematic streetscape plans.

As a result of this improvement plan, Teska was quickly hired to assist in the construction documentation for the phase one-streetscape improvements on First Avenue. These improvements are now complete.
