How do you redevelop a superfund site that has limited vehicular access but exceptional rail access? That is the question posed to the BDI/Teska team. Working closely with the City's environmental (URS) and engineering (Robinson) consultants, the team explored potential uses and phasing strategies. The initial effort produced an Opportunity Analysis that revealed several industrial opportunities for the property and explored various land planning approaches. This effort was supplemented with a Strategic Plan that identified specific steps and priorities to redevelop the site into a productive use. The study has lead to an agreement between the City and Dynawave to explore a plasma based resource recovery facility that could potentially aid in site remediation while providing a permanent use for a portion of the City-owned property.
