The City of Greensboro, NC, engaged Teska to prepare a Traditional Neighborhood District for the Greensboro Unified Development Ordinance. The new district infuses time-tested features of pre-World War II development into existing neighborhoods in need of revitalization. Among the features required are a mix of uses; walkability; interconnected streets; front entries and porches in close proximity to a sidewalk; and access to parking and services through alleys.

Teska also worked with the City to prepare a Pedestrian Scale Overlay District. The district establishes development standards based on improved properties surrounding the site, and further encourages revitalization of existing neighborhoods. The Pedestrian Scale Overlay District accommodates a mix of uses; provides safe, walkable, attractive, pedestrian-oriented areas; and preserves neighborhood character. Additionally, Teska worked with the City to prepare a strategic plan for implementation of a neighborhood revitalization project, prepared additional neighborhood plans, designed corridor streetscape, and continues to maintain a working relationship with the City.
