As pressures for commercial revitalization mount for municipities, Teska was asked by the Economic Development Corporation for Central Illinois to prepare market studies and marketing packages for fourteen sites in eleven communities in the Peoria area - from the Riverfront in Peoria to commercial corridors in Pekin, Canton and West Peoria, to shopping centers in Washington and Morton. The project was completed on behalf of the Economic Development Corporation along with market analyst Valerie S. Kretchmer Associates. We did more than provide retail demand and supply numbers, we focused on practical strategies the municipalities could implement to make their communities more competitive. We also provided short marketing sheetsand contacts to prospective tenants that met their specific local shopping patterns.
Several communities asked for follow-up work including potential site layouts and redesigns of shopping centers that could attract new tenants and developers.
