The historic I&M Canal Trail through the Village of Lemont's Downtown area is becoming an attractively landscaped interpretive trailway thanks to a landscape plan developed by Teska.
The interpretive trailway is located along the north and south sides of the I&M Canal Trail, adjacent to a new mixed use development within the Downtown area. Landscape features include interpretive and community signage, rock outcroppings and stone walls that reference the local quarries, an all native planting palette that references regional landscape patterns, gathering plaza areas, interpretive overlook areas with views to the Canal, irrigation, lighting, specialty paving and seating.
