Since coming to TAI, Jim has participated in the drafting of design guidelines for Glencoe and South Elgin, site plan review for other communities in Illinois such as Algonquin and Elburn, and zoning ordinance revisions for Elkhorn, Wisconsin. His current major projects are a zoning ordinance update for Plainfield and a TIF eligibility study for Winfield. Additionally, he serves as a consultant planner for the Village of Deer Park.

Mr Brown holds a master’s in urban planning and public policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to joining the planning profession he held military assignments in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His duties in these areas included project management, coordination for humanitarian relief efforts, diplomatic activities, and the collection, research, and reporting on various topics of interest to the federal government.
