Teska Associates, Inc., in partnership with the Economic Development Council of the Bloomington-Normal Area and the City of Bloomington, is working with a coalition of organizations from the public, private and non-profit sectors to direct a neighborhood revitalization effort on Bloomington’s west side.

The effort, which is focusing on the neighborhood located south of Locust Street, east of Morris Avenue, north of Taylor Street and west of Lee Street, aims to improve the quality of life for area residents. The West Bloomington Task Force is hard at work conducting grassroots outreach, identifying the unique strengths of the community, and researching economic development opportunities for the neighborhood. The ultimate goals of this planning effort are to support and to strengthen the community’s families, homes, job prospects, access to education, safety, health and quality of life. 

On Thursday, May 8 there will be a Community Summit in the neighborhood. You and your neighbors are cordially invited to attend this event! Listen to the ideas of the Task Force, learn about how you can take an active role in making West Bloomington a better place to live, work and play, and share your ideas, knowledge and experiences with the rest of the neighborhood! The Community Summit will be held at Mt. Pisgah Church at 7pm.

La Planificación del barrio West Bloomington 

Una coalición de organizaciones de los sectores público, privado y las agencies sin ánimo de lucro se organizan para en la revitalización de la parte oeste de Bloomington.  Este esfuerzo, que se centra en el barrio localizado al sur de la calle Locust, al este de la avenida Morris, al norte de la calle Taylor y al oeste de la calle Lee, persigue mejorar la calidad de vida de los residentes de este área.  El Equipo West Bloomington está trabajando intensamente para contactar con todos al nivel local, para identificar los puntos fuertes de la comunidad e investigar las oportunidades para el desarrollo económico del barrio.  La meta final de este proyecto es apoyar y reforzar a las familias, los hogares, las oportunidades de trabajo, el acceso a la educación, la seguridad, la salud y la calidad de vida de la comunidad. 

El jueves, 8 de mayo habrá una reunión comunitaria en el barrio.  ¡Ud. y sus vecinos están invitados a este evento!  ¡Escuche las ideas del Equipo West Bloomington, aprenda cómo puede adopter un papel más activo en la revitalización del barrio West Bloomington para que sea un mejor sitio para vivir, trabajar y divertirse y comparta sus ideas, conocimiento y experiencias con los otros residentes del barrio!  La reunión comunitaria tendrá lugar en la iglesia Mt. Pisgah a las 7 de la noche.
