Mini to Mighty: A Plan for the Now, Near, and Next
A historic Illinois Main Street community, the seat of Brown County, and home to Dot Foods, Mount Sterling is small but mighty. Building on decades of local initiative, Teska partnered with All Together and Small Nation to develop a long-range strategic plan rooted in the community's history, entrepreneurial spirit, and ambitions for its future.
The process brought residents, businesses, students, and community leaders together to shape six strategic pillars addressing housing, growth, recreation, the local economy, infrastructure, and community identity. The result is an actionable guidebook with clear priorities, implementation tools, and a shared commitment to making things happen. Unanimously adopted by City Council, the plan is well underway. Local partners have advanced a new community brand, housing initiatives, business development, recreational improvements, and a shared system for tracking progress.
