Transit-Friendly Communities Guide
Equipping local leaders to create transit-friendly communities across the region
Transit can do more for communities when the places around it are designed to support it. Teska led the development of a guidebook that shows decision-makers practical ways to make their communities more transit-friendly and ready for equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD). The updated guide addresses today's priorities, including changing commuter trends, micromobility, equitable engagement, and affordable housing.
Focus groups with transportation agencies, developers, municipal planners, and nonprofit and community-based organizations shaped the guide's direction. Illustrative design concepts show what ETOD and transit-friendly improvements can look like across typical transit areas in the region. An implementation checklist gives communities the questions and action steps they need to move from ideas to progress.
