Illinois Route 59 was once a barrier in Streamwood. The Route 59 Pedestrian Bridge and Trail Improvements Project turns it into a point of connection, creating the first ADA-compliant bike and pedestrian crossing over the highway.
Teska led community outreach and aesthetic design for the bridge and trail, gathering input through image-based surveys, public meetings, and design workshops. The team carried the design from concept through construction documentation and construction observation, including custom bridge railings, signage, lighting, formliner treatments, and bridge overlook areas. The project reconnects the community, protects wetlands, and creates a signature gateway structure that expresses Streamwood's identity.
