APA Illinois Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan
The Lake Zurich Together Comprehensive Plan envisions a beloved community that protects the assets residents value while bringing new energy to Main Street. Teska led the process from community engagement through conceptual graphics. Together with residents, the team shaped priorities around attracting a more diverse business mix, expanding lakeside activities, and making it easier to walk and bike around town.
A Main Street Area Framework Plan shows where new development, placemaking, and stronger connections can take shape. Design guidelines turn community standards and aesthetics into clear direction for future projects. Special area plans along two key corridors address urban design, infill development, and annexation potential. The Village Board adopted the plan unanimously, and implementation is already underway.
