“Tudor Court, in its new prominence in downtown Glencoe because of (Writers Theatre), has the potential to become a special place,” Village Manager Phil Kiraly said at the meeting.

Downtown Glencoe’s Tudor Court, the east-west street outside the Writers Theatre, could be under construction as early as next year as village officials have signed off on seeking design enhancements.

At the June 15 village board meeting, trustees unanimously authorized the village manager to enter into an agreement, not to exceed $30,000, with Evanston-based Teska Associates, the village’s longtime planning consultants, to develop design concepts for Tudor Court.

Enhancing the Tudor Court streetscape was among the suggestions made by the village’s plan commission and subsequently adopted by the village board last year on how to energize Glencoe’s downtown.

“There are a lot of opportunities to make the space really attractive,” said Jodi Mariano, a Teska principal and urban designer.
