Settlers Square Poised for Progress: Waukegan and Everett Intersection Lead the Way

A plan built on collaboration, cooperation, and creativity

Collaboration is key as we move forward with plans for the south gateway to the West Lake Forest business district at Waukegan and Everett Roads. The City has updated district plans to provide guidelines regarding future land use, urban design, and built form for the new Settlers Square.

The Settlers Square area began as a rail stop, crossroads, and blacksmith shop and now serves as a transportation hub with great access to the state highway, local east/west arterial road network, and commuter train line.

Teska has worked with individual private property owners and local residents to create a balanced vision that marries private site development into a unified medical retail campus. Moving forward to implement the vision, Teska is working with private property owner Iosue Investments, and a talented team that includes Melichar Architects and Mariani Landscape, to provide architecture and landscape planting design support.

Settlers Concept Plan

The Settlers Square area began as a rail stop, crossroads, and blacksmith shop and now serves as a transportation hub with great access to the state highway, local east/west arterial road network, and commuter train line. The City hopes that one day this new business district will evolve into a people-friendly, mixed-use district providing a full mix of retail, office, services, and residential... maybe not a blacksmith shop.

Building Community, Creating Place - it's what we do.

Balance in creativity is essential. Teska Associates created the Iosue property master site plan to focus on the mixed-use medical/commercial campus plan at Waukegan Road and Everett, the gateway cornerstone to Settlers Square. Having coordinated the overall vision for the project, we continue to craft detailed land use plans, site design elements, traffic management, and conceptual landscape architecture that matches leasing and marketing goals to create a coordinated campus of unified design elements fitting with the surroundings.

Teska looks forward to our continued partnership with our client, the team, and neighbors to create a vibrant and successful benchmark development. Building Community, Creating Place - it's what we do.
