Evanston Skate Park at Twiggs Park
Designing a custom skate park to attract daredevils of all ages
APWA Chicagoland Chapter Project of the Year, 2025
Evanston's skate community called for a permanent skateboard park, and Twiggs Park now delivers one. Community outreach through surveys, workshops, and public meetings shaped a custom concrete skate park with bowls, rails, wedges, and quarterpipes.
A custom cantilevered shelter with lighting anchors the site, alongside signage, park lighting, and site furnishings including benches, tables and chairs, seatwalls, bike racks, a drinking fountain, trash and recycling receptacles, and a portable toilet enclosure. Native landscaping, drainage improvements, and rain gardens round out the design. The result is a state-of-the-art skate park people return to again and again.
