Building on recent success and planning for the greater downtown area to support future growth

Over the last five years, Lockport’s downtown has seen significant success, including attracting new restaurants, investing in streetscape, property, and facade improvements, and fostering a strong downtown community. This initiative builds on that momentum to create a plan rooted in a shared community vision to help guide future growth and development.

The project area, referred to as Greater Downtown, is centered on Lockport’s Historic District and the nearby Metra train station, extending to include the City’s larger mixed-use core and surrounding residential neighborhoods. This broader footprint goes beyond the traditional definition of Downtown Lockport, allowing the study to explore new opportunities for growth throughout the area.
